For those that are in search of a social, friendly community with plenty of activities, look no further than Pelican Bay. As one of the premier tennis communities in Naples, Pelican Bay offers 18 tennis courts and plenty of social opportunities within their tennis program. Not only is it one of the most popular social attractions, it is also one of the proudest traditions.
The tennis program offers various leagues, round-robin play, professional instruction, co-ed clinics, workouts, tournaments, and excursions. New players should check out the “Learn to Play Tennis FAST” program which is guaranteed to have you playing in just six classes. Those that want to brush up on their game should look into the “Learn to Play Tennis BETTER” program. Clinics take place bi-weekly on Thursday and Saturday and are perfect for out-of-town guests that would like to play tennis while visiting. For snowbirds, the 2023 tennis activities schedule (below) has many offerings through the end of April, including a group trip to the Miami Open.
Learning how to play tennis is significantly easier when you have industry leaders teaching you. Pelican Bay is proud to have four tennis pros on staff, ready to help you reach your tennis goals. Mike Kopp, previous Director of Tennis of the Registry and The New York Athletic Club, has overseen some of the finest tennis clubs in America. He is an award-winning teacher, a National Fast Serve Champion, and USTA certified training coach. Todd Watkins is the go-to guy for doubles instruction. His philosophy on teaching is refreshing and easy to understand. Toni Novack is an accomplished player and recently won gold at the ITF World Team Cup Championships for doubles and bronze for singles. She is a big believer in the health benefits of tennis and enjoys sharing that with her students. Daniel Harden is the fourth and final tennis pro at Pelican Bay. He has played tennis his whole life and works with all ages and skill levels, including children. This prestigious team is one of the defining features that sets the Pelican Bay tennis program apart from others.
To add to the prestige of the program, Pelican Bay offers two top-notch facilities with Har-Tru courts. The Commons is home to the South Tennis Center which is comprised of ten non-lit courts. The remaining eight courts are located at the North Tennis Center and they are conveniently lit for night play. Both facilities have pro shops featuring stylish apparel, state-of -the-art gear, and trendy accessories.
